Bank Identity (BankID) is a service provided by Czech banks, overseen by the Czech Banking Association, which enables:
- online verification of the signer's identity
- electronic signing of documents
- logging in to digital services
How it works: the client is identified through their bank by logging in to their internet or mobile banking. The verification is based on the assumption that the bank has already identified the client in the past and verified their data. The bank provides this verified data precisely for bank identity services.
What benefits does combining BankID and Signi bring?
- Signi customers need to do almost nothing to use bank identity. There's no need to integrate with Bank Identity services. In Signi, you simply activate the appropriate license that includes BankID features and set up the necessary details to use its services.
- Document initiators have a complete environment for signing company documents available in Signi — for drafting documents to be signed, including signing scenarios, managed distribution to everyone inside and outside the company, recording and searching signed documents, long-term archiving of electronic documents, or integration with various systems.
- For identifying or signing parties who don't have access to Bank Identity services, they can use alternative methods in Signi, e.g. Signi verification or Biometric or Qualified signatures. Users continue to use the same application throughout.
Which BankID services does Signi make available and how?
Signi is connected to Bank Identity services and offers combined services:
What is the relationship between BankID and Signi?
Signi is one of BankID's partners that provides BankID services as part of its products. The prices and conditions for providing BankID services are governed directly by the terms of Bank Identity. On Signi's side, the charges for BankID services are only re-invoiced according to actual usage.
Access via programmatic vs. user interface
- BankID provides its services in the form of a programmatic interface, i.e. an API. It does not assume direct access by users.
- Signi, on the other hand, is one of the services that provides a user interface for remote identification, signing, and archiving of electronic documents, and as one of the signing or identification options it also offers the use of BankID services.
Signi as a fast and cheap route to BankID
- While direct integration with BankID services is something that especially large companies can afford,
- through Signi everyone can use BankID services — large companies, medium and smaller companies, small entrepreneurs, and individuals
- and that with zero investment costs and even "immediately" — all you need is to set up a Signi account and have the relevant service activated.
Do I have to have a contract with BankID?
- In most cases it's up to you, whichever is more convenient for you.
- Either Signi resells and re-invoices BankID services to you, or
- you conclude your own contract with BankID, pay for its services yourself, and to use it in Signi you simply enter your details for connecting with BankID into Signi.
- However, if you are subject to AML obligations, you are required by law to have a direct contract with Bank Identity as the provider of BankID remote identification services. Again, to use it in Signi you simply enter your details for connecting with BankID into Signi.
