What is Bank Identity - BankID?

It is a project of Czech banks under the umbrella of the Czech Banking Association, the aim of which is to enable Czech banks to offer their customers identity verification services, signing documents or logging into various Internet services. Similar services are available, for example, in Scandinavian countries.

What is a signature via BankID SIGN

One of the services provided by Bankovní identita is the signature of documents with BankID, the so-called BankID SIGN.

Benefits of BankID SIGN via Signi

Signi provides everything necessary for the management of electronically signed documents, i.e. their design, sending them for signature according to a set signature scenario, advanced identification options up to the level of the AML law, document registration, long-term archiving, ready integration with frequently used systems (e.g. Microsoft 365, etc.), corresponding API for integrations.

Signi customers need to do almost nothing extra to use the bank identity. There is no need to integrate to Bank Identity services, just set up the necessary data in Signi to use its services.

Electronic signatures can thus be made available to the vast majority of the population while processing all signed documents in a uniform manner in the same environment. If the signatories are not able to sign via BankID SIGN, other types of signatures can be used - SMS, biometric or qualified signatures and possibly combined with remote identification.

How to sign via BankID SIGN - step by step

Signi is a service for proposers of documents. They determine which documents to sign within and outside their organisation. Each of them may or may not have an account in Signi. Signatories receive a signature prompt and can read and sign the documents. Once all the determinations have signed the document, each signer will receive their paré of the signed document.

For the proposers

Sending documents for signature via BankID SIGN is a separately paid feature in Signi. If you have it enabled, a new signature type "Sign via BankID Signature" will appear on the signature scenario definition page for the document or set of documents for each signer.

For signatories

1. The Signi website will display the document to be signed

If the proposer has sent you an invitation to sign the document via email and SMS, is signing the document with you on the same device, or you are signing in an app or on a Signi-integrated website, you will see the signature page with the document. Here, press the Sign button. For more on the entire Signi signing process, see Signi Signing Process.

2. On the BankID website, withdraw from banks that allow BankID SIGNN

If the proposer has enabled BankID SIGN and you select it as an option to sign, you will see a selection of banks through which you can sign.

3. On the BankID website details of the document to be signed

4. Login to the banking app on your bank's website

5. On your bank's website, you confirm your consent to the transfer of your personal data for the purpose of signing

6. You will be prompted to sign with your mobile key on your bank's website.

7. On the mobile key, you confirm your signature on the document in the same way as you confirm, for example, a payment.

8. The Signi document signature page displays a confirmation of the document signature

After successful confirmation of the mobile key signature, you are redirected to the final signing page in Signi. The document is then distributed to other signatories for signing. If you were the last signer, all signatories will receive information about the closing of the document with their paré of the electronically signed document, see Signature process in Signi for more information.

Resulting document

If you open the resulting document in Adobe Acrobat Reader, the signature panel shows information about the embedded certificates:

  • one or more signatures, depending on the number of signers, secured via BankID SIGN - these are displayed as unverified because they are not at the qualified level,

  • the electronic seal of Bank Identity - the operator of the https://www.bankid.cz/en service,

  • the electronic seal of Digital factory s.r.o. - the operator of the Signi.com service.

Electronic seals are not a legal act. They are only an acknowledgement by an organisation of the (co)authorship of a document, i.e. they can be consulted for authorship information, see Electronic Seals.

Display certificates in the resulting document.
