What is Bank Identity - BankID?
It is a project of Czech banks under the umbrella of the Czech Banking Association, which aims to enable Czech banks to offer their customers services for verifying their identity, signing documents or logging into various Internet services. Similar services are available in Scandinavian countries, for example.
What is and isn't BankID remote identification?
It is possible to use several levels of identification, namely BankID IDENTIFY, BankID IDENTIFY PLUS and the highest level of identification for the purposes of the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML Act) BankID IDENTIFY AML.
Remote identification at the BankID IDENTIFY and BankID IDENTIFY PLUS levels can be facilitated by Signi as part of its services and billed accordingly. For remote identification at the BankID IDENTIFY AML level, according to the requirements of the AML law and the Czech Financial Administration, it is necessary for you to have a direct commercial or legal agreement with Bankovní identita a.s. See https://www.bankid.cz/en/for-companies for details. Billing for services provided by Bankovní identita a.s. will then be handled between you and Bankovní identita, with Signi acting only as a technical intermediary in this case. Functionally, everything works the same within Signi. To activate the BankID IDENTIFY AML service, you simply need to configure your authentication details for Bankovní identita in the workspace settings in Signi.
For completeness, it should be noted that remote identification using the BankID IDENTIFY service by the user is not considered their legal act or expression of will. This distinguishes it from the BankID SIGN electronic signing service.
Benefits of BankID remote identification via Signi
Customers of Signi using the bank identity service don't need to do much extra. There's no need to integrate with the BankID services separately; just configure the necessary details within Signi.
You continue to send documents for signing from Signi as usual. Besides the two-factor identity verification (email, phone), signatories will now also have the option to verify themselves via bank identity.
For signatories who don't have the option to verify via BankID, they can still use Signi's identification methods involving document uploads, liveliness tests, and micro-payments.
How identification works - step by step
For the applicant
After uploading the document and specifying the counterparty, select "Bank ID" from the "Verification and other" menu.
Proceed to the content of the document, where you will typically enter signature fields and send it. At this point, a notification will be sent to those signatories for whom identification is required.
For the verified counterparty
Upon receiving the email notification, simply click on the "Proceed to identification" link.
Identification Process
Upon redirection, you will be prompted to select your bank through which you will verify your identity.
Once you select your bank, a form will appear where you fill in your login details for your bank.
After entering the details, you will be prompted to confirm the login in your mobile application.
After confirmation, you will be asked to consent to the transfer of personal data (optional).
After confirmation, an automatic email will be sent to the Proposer, who will review and approve or reject your Bank ID verification.
For the proposer after performing the identification
Once you receive the notification email about the completed identification, proceed by clicking on "View Identification Results", or display the document in the application and select the option "Identification" under the document's name on the left side.
Application
After reviewing all identification details, you have the option to either approve or reject the identification.
If rejected, please provide a reason, which will then be sent with the notification to the verified counterparty, who will also be prompted to correct/supply the requested information.
If approved, you will be prompted to sign and subsequently send the document for signing by the successfully verified counterparty.
