Signature with text and image

Modified on Tue, 11 Jun at 11:31 AM

Signature with text or image is one of the variants of electronic signature from the legal point of view at the level of plain/other.

In contrast to the other type of signature at this level, namely biometric signature, where a person uses a touch screen or mouse to make an analogy of their handwritten signature on paper, in this case you have more control over the appearance of the signature. In the case of an image, there is no problem to add to the signature, for example, a picture of a company stamp or wax seal and so on.

How is it from a legal perspective?

As with biometric signatures, you can insert such a signature repeatedly when you sign each document, or you can create an account on Signi, insert your signature in your account settings, and then the signature will be pre-filled when you sign each document.

  • Like biometric signatures, this is an electronic signature at the "plain" level in terms of law, i.e. it is a perfectly legal form of signature. The definition of an electronic signature in the EU eIDAS Directive, which is also adopted into the Czech one, is "any electronic data attached to an electronic document used for signing" see details in Electronic Legal Actions and Signs > Legal Framework.

  • As with biometric signatures, in the event of a dispute, the controlling authority or expert of the law enforcement agency will have a complete audit trail of the document signature including 2 factor identification/verification of the signer via email and phone by sending an SMS. As with biometric signatures, advanced forms of remote identification can be used if required.

  • However, unlike a biometric signature, the controlling authority or expert has less information to confirm the identity of the signer. It is therefore a compromise between the convenience of the signatories and the potential risk of litigation.

Text signatures can be used in account settings or when signing individual documents.

How to disable, enable or prioritize these signing methods?

You can set various signing methods as default, optional, or completely disable them in the workspace settings.
